Segment export: Facebook Business Manager

Learn from this article:

Export  to Facebook Business Manager, Facebook Ads

Export your segmented customers to Facebook Business Manager, then to  Facebook Ads to run a campaign. Check the results of your campaign back in Meiro (segment customers you sent the campaign to and check its insights and customer profiles).

To export to Facebook this destination needs to be set by the administrator.

Export to Facebook Business Manager, Facebook Ads

1. Choose destination

After segmenting your audience in the Segments tab, go to the Destination section/ Facebook and name your export (the name will be stored in the Meiro Business Explorer export history).

Exportable shows how many customers will be exported to your destination out of all customers that are possible to export to this destination.

Warning: Remember this number is defined not only by the conditions you choose to segment the audience, but also by mandatory attributes that have been set up by the administrator (that must be present in order to export to your destination).

For example, if you segment 1000 customers but only 10 customers have mandatory attributes present, only those 10 will be exported to your destination.

2. Parameters

Set mandatory parameters from the list of parameters:

Audience Name (required)

This will be visible on Facebook as the name of exported audience.

Audience ID (optional)

This field defines which audience will be updated.

It is possible to create an audience in
Facebook Business Manager, or update an existing audience:

  • If the Audience ID is left empty, then a new audience ID will be created.
  • If you fill in an existing Facebook Audience ID (which can be obtained from Facebook Business Manager), that audience will be updated.

Warning: You can only update an existing Facebook audience if that audience was previously created through export from the Meiro. If an audience was created manually in Facebook Business Manager, that audience will not support the load of external data, hence it will not be possible to update that audience.

Remember: Each export from Meiro to a preexisting Audience ID will replace the previous audience and not load incrementally.

What customers' data is exported to Facebook (mandatory & exported attributes)?

Meiro exports to Facebook:

  • Email
  • Phone number
  • Advertising ID

Those are mandatory attributes needed in order to export to Facebook Business Manager.

Possible to export (if known)  is also:

  • First name
  • Last name

Exported data is set by the administrator. To see which attributes have been set to export, please go to the Data tab/ Sources & Destinations tab, exported attributes

Warning: Number of exported customers will not be the same as the number of "rows" visible in exports on Facebook. It is because rows are not customer profiles but identifiers.

How long does it take to export?

Export happens in real-time, usually, it is a matter of minutes.

Multiple exports will override existing ones or load as a new one?

Multiple exports with the same name will appear as new custom audiences (separate) with the same name in Facebook.

Warning: There is no limit on API calls. If you experience any trouble please contact the Meiro team.

Match rate

Facebook shows a match rate for audiences of more than 1000. If you export an audience of fewer than 1000; or if out of your audience, fewer than 1000 are matched, then the audience size will show up as “Below 1,000 - Small after matching”. However, your custom audience can still be activated if the availability is Ready.
